fruff (noun) : It's the combination of 'ruff'(noun); the pleated, starched muslin or linen collar that framed the face worn in the late 16th and early 17th centuries and 'fluffy;(adjective) meaning light and soft. The combination of these two words describes the mane of long hair around a cat's neck.
I prefer long haired cats with a very nice fruff . (used as a noun) or "Boy, that cat sure is fruffy!" (used as an adjective)
